Dr. James D. Schutte

Dr. James Schuette graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He has always been interested in dentistry and even flirted with the idea of becoming a medical doctor. In fact, he took many medical courses before and after receiving his degree. That love of learning has continued throughout his career, and Dr. Schuette undergoes between ten and twenty days of continuing education each year. He has received advanced training in sleep medicine and in laser dentistry. He began his laser training in the 1990’s and studied in Missouri, California, Texas, Nevada, Florida and Cancun. Dr. Schuette has pioneered the use of lasers in Missouri and offers a number of different laser treatments in his office, including LANAP, as well as laser treatments for snoring and cosmetic procedures. In addition, Dr. Schuette uses a Nd:YAG laser to target dark tissue and increase mitochondrial activity. His Er:YAG laser targets light tissue and stimulates stem cell activity.

Dr Schuette has been in practice since graduation. He started in south Kansas City and moved to Lee’s Summit in 2003. He is a lifelong member of the American Dental Association and received an ADA award for meritorious service. He is also a member of the following organizations:
• Eastern Jackson County Dental Study Group
• Missouri Dental Association
• Greater Kansas City Dental Society
• Chicago Dental Society

Dr. Schuette volunteers frequently outside of the office. Our dentist has provided dental care for the poor at temporary clinics, such as the KC Black Expo in Kansas City. He participates in TeamSmile at the Chief, Royal, and Sporting fields. Our dentist also dedicates his time to Give Kids A Smile at UMKC, Missouri Donated Dentistry, and Missouri Mission of Mercy. Dr. Schuette has provided free dentistry for Vietnam orphanages, a Malawi orphanage, a South African squatter camp, and a Jamaican school.

Dr. Schuette has trained health care workers in the United States, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. Dr. Schuette has lectured at the local dental school, nationally at dental meetings, and internationally to healthcare providers on the importance of nutrition in conjunction with dental health for total body wellness. Dr. Schuette trains externs from the dental assistant schools of Penn Valley and Concorde. As a dentist, his goal is to help patients feel better and to enjoy good overall health. He wants his patients to look better, love their smiles, and exclaim “Wow, that looks great!” at the end of their appointments.

Dr. Schuette and his wife Beckee have six children. In his spare time, he enjoys family and church activities. He loves the water and likes to spend time trout fishing, scuba diving and sailing.
